Gun-control often starts with legislation that affects other freedoms.

Article 1 Section 7 Wyoming State Constitution
“Absolute, arbitrary power over the lives, liberty and property of freemen exists nowhere in a republic, not even in the largest majority”.

Personal and Economic freedom is influenced by legislation on a daily basis, for instance during Wyoming’s 2009 general session 315 separate bills were introduced in a 60 day period, this amounted to over 1600 pages of legislation that had nothing to do with protecting your personal freedom.

Citizens’ rights to educate their children, own and transfer property, be free from unreasonable search and seizure, own and carry firearms are just some of our inalienable rights.

However our system, entrusted to elected officials has become a breeding ground for freedom-snatching bureaucrats.

The point here is that there are so many forces pushing at your constitutional rights, that we must look at the bigger picture.

Historically these “other” non-gun issues lead to an infringement on personal freedoms.

Some examples of areas that affect your personal freedoms:

Fiscal Policy – Government Spending
Regulatory Policy – Smoking Bans
Social Issues – Attack on Traditional Values
Questionable Legislation – Conflicts of Interest

If you have received a mail-piece concerning a legislator in your district, we have reviewed their record and it has raised some questions on their ability to protect your gun-rights.

WyGO is watching this legislator closely and will keep you posted.
