This email was used by permission from one of our members. It reveals the thought process or better “lack of rational thought process” of an anti-gun politician. Make sure you read the reply from Jim to Vice Mayor Schlager.
Also note that Casper’s Vice Mayor–Kenyne Schlager is a “Republican”, and is a former vice president of the Natrona County Republican Women.

The latest vote in council chambers reveals that vice mayor Kenyne Schlager and council member Paul Meyer both Republicans continue to follow the anti-gun lead of “Ultra-Liberal-Democrat” council member Kim Holloway.
Don’t forget you swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States of America and to the State of Wyoming. The second Amendment is part of the Constitution.
The citizens of the State of Wyoming will be watching how you Vote.
Sincerely,
Jim

Thank you for your email regarding the gun ban in Casper city council meetings. Please note, that we are only asking that GUNS NOT BE IN OUR COUNCIL MEETINGS.
I am assuming you have been prompted to contact me by the website www.wyominggunowners.org or a letter you received from Mr. Bouchard.
Here are links to read to find correct information:
www.trib.com
www.casperwy.gov
http://www.casperwy.gov/CityGovernment/CasperCityCouncil/CouncilMeetingsandAgendas/tabid/271/Default.aspx
The last link is for the council’s recordings of our meetings. This is where you can hear and see the truth – our actual discussions.
I am not an “east coast” person as many of the emails implied. I was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming and own a gun. I just want to be able to have a debate in my council chambers without having council, citizens, and city staff worried about seeing a gun. Yes, I know someone who wants to do us harm will still get a gun in the meeting and I can’t stop that. But I can try to make sure my council can have a debate without being intimidated. This will allow appropriate debate without intimidation.
When people say, “you should just have a gun in the meeting yourself”, that doesn’t work. What would the little 90 year old lady think while she is trying to talk to us about a lien we are putting on her house because she’s a hoarder. Or if I had to actually use the gun, I would have to shoot through our city staff.
And when people say, “if a gunman comes into the meeting, a citizen carrying could save our lives”. Well, when the citizen pulls out his gun in a situation, I think there is a good chance he would be shot by law enforcement. In a matter of a second, how can someone decide who the good guy is and who the bad guy is?
I must applaud Mr. Bouchard’s fundraising methods of using misinformation and lies to muster financial support for the gun organization. Isn’t it interesting that he asks for money at the end of his letters about Casper?
I would be happy to discuss this further after you have read the accurate information. I am very open and willing to see both sides. Thank you for caring about what happens in Wyoming.
Sincerely,
Kenyne Schlager, Vice Mayor
And what the hell is this: “What would the little 90 year old lady think while she is trying to talk to us about a lien we are putting on her house because she’s a hoarder.” You can’t be serious?? If I were the little 90 year old lady who hoarded things in my house and may only be alive for a short time I would wonder why I was going to lose the home I have lived in and paid taxes on for 60 plus years because I was unable to part with things that I treasure.
I think I would be helping her find a place where a poor little 90 year old women could keep her things while she was alive. Maybe she could donate some of her stuff to families that could use it..
Your comments and scenarios only give credence to what WyomingGunOwners.org have sent to their members and have put in public print…..
I now understand more clearly what people are up against in Casper Wyoming.
Do the right thing and protect the constitution you swore an oath to or just step down.
Sincerely,
Jim
