By now you know that WYGO is under attack from Secretary of State Ed Buchanan and Governor Gordon’s appointed Attorney General, Bridget Hill.
As we’ve told you earlier, they are trying to force us to surrender the names of our members or pay outlandish fines that would cripple our ability to fight for gun owners in 2021!
We all know what this is: a direct response to the absolute beating that WYGO members delivered to the establishment’s preferred candidates during the 2020 primary and general election.
Afterall, the establishment in Cheyenne did everything they could think of trying to defend anti-gun moderates last year, and everything they did failed spectacularly.
First, they rolled out pathetic endorsements from former Governor Mark Gordon in an attempt to fool gun owners, which only hurt them more.
Then they tried to protect Michael Von Flatern with a very sad, mumbling endorsement from Senator Mike Enzi, that completely flopped.
Next they got Governor Gordon involved, politically attacking Senator Anthony Bouchard. Bouchard was unphased and wound up destroying his primary and general election opponents.
In desperation, they even turned to multiple Jackson Hole billionaires who cut massive checks to anti-gun moderates, trying to give them the resources to fool gun owners.
You know the result.
They lost Michael Von Flatern, their right hand in the Senate. They also lost Dan Kirkbride, their ‘fixer,’ who chaired the House Judiciary Committee. They even lost Tyler Lindholm, their faux conservative in the House.
The remaining moderates in Cheyenne know that if this trend continues, their careers may be at risk in 2020. And since WYGO lead the charge to expose the records and statements of the gun-grabbers listed above, they are determined to silence us.
None of that was a surprise.
What was a surprise is the fact that they didn’t at least try to hide the source of this bogus attack.
You see, while they tried to deny us a copy of the complaint that was filed against us for a while, WYGO persisted and recently received a copy of this complaint.
The complaint was filed by a lobbyist pal of the moderates in the Capitol, none other than the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s President, Dale Steenbergen.
Care to guess who is the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce (at least according to their most recently filed 990’s disclosure documents?)
None other than Senate Judiciary Chairwoman Tara Nethercott! Don’t take my word for it, look below!
Now, if you’re asking yourself if this is the same Senator Nethercott who tried to crush Stand-Your-Ground law in 2018, and who voted for the anti-gun Perkins amendment, you would be correct.
If you’re wondering if this is the same Senator Nethercott who voted against Gun Free Zone repeal legislation (SF75) in 2019, you would be correct.
If you’re wondering if this is the same Senator Nethercott who used her position on the Judiciary Committee to try to weaken Stand-Your-Ground law in 2019, after the Supreme Court upheld it, you would be correct.
Tara Nethercott has been an enemy to gun owners repeatedly over the last four years in Cheyenne, only voting the right way when she had to, due to overwhelming grassroots pressure!
And politicians like Nethercott hate organizations like WYGO, who hold them accountable and tell the truth about their records.
They want us to do what every other organization in Cheyenne does: sings the praises of the politicians, whitewash their records at election time, and never step out of line.
WYGO doesn’t work that way.
And that’s why Senator Nethercott’s Chamber of Commerce filed this bogus complaint against us, to try to force us to fall into line, or be shut down by the State of Wyoming!
Well, Tara, don’t hold your breath waiting for us to fall into line.
WYGO will not be silent.
WYGO will not protect anti-gun politicians.
WYGO will not be a part of the good ole boys club in Cheyenne, that trades our members rights away in exchange for selfies and private dinners with politicians.
